Kwara State, Nigeria — The newly appointed Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State, Abbas Nda Mohammed, has pledged to address security challenges in the state’s North and South Senatorial Districts.
Mohammed, who assumed office as the 16th substantive State Commandant, emphasized his commitment to strengthening operational strategies, enhancing intelligence gathering, and fostering collaboration with stakeholders to combat crime and protect critical national assets.
Speaking during his first media engagement in Ilorin on Wednesday, the Commandant acknowledged the security concerns in Kwara North and South Senatorial Districts. He announced plans to deploy additional officers from the NSCDC headquarters to troubled areas and activate tactical units for rapid response in the Kaiama and Oro-Ago regions.
“Under my leadership, we will strengthen our operations, enhance intelligence gathering, and intensify efforts in safeguarding critical infrastructure and tackling all forms of criminality,” Mohammed stated.
He reiterated the Corps’ mandate to protect lives and critical infrastructure across the state, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency cooperation and sustained partnerships, particularly with the media, in achieving a safer society.
“Security is a collective responsibility,” he added, underscoring the need for continued collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders.
Mohammed, who previously served in the Kwara State Command, described his appointment as both a privilege and a call to greater responsibility. He expressed gratitude to the media for their role in public enlightenment and security awareness, highlighting their partnership as vital to effective policing and national stability.
