Kwara State, Nigeria — Abbas Nda Mohammed, the newly appointed Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kwara State, has committed to addressing security challenges in both the North and South Senatorial Districts of the state. As the 16th substantive State Commandant, he emphasized his dedication to strengthening operational strategies, enhancing intelligence gathering, and fostering collaboration with stakeholders to combat crime and protect critical national assets.
During his first media engagement in Ilorin on Wednesday, Commandant Mohammed acknowledged the existing security concerns in Kwara North and South Senatorial Districts. He announced plans to deploy additional officers from the NSCDC headquarters to troubled areas and to activate tactical units for rapid response in the Kaiama and Oro-Ago regions. “Under my leadership, we will strengthen our operations, enhance intelligence gathering, and intensify efforts in safeguarding critical infrastructure and tackling all forms of criminality,” he stated.
Furthermore, Mohammed reiterated the Corps’ mandate to protect lives and critical infrastructure across the state. He emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation and sustained partnerships, particularly with the media, in achieving a safer society. “Security is a collective responsibility,” he added, highlighting the need for continued collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders.
Having previously served in the Kwara State Command, Mohammed described his appointment as both a privilege and a call to greater responsibility. He expressed gratitude to the media for their role in public enlightenment and security awareness, underscoring their partnership as vital to effective policing and national stability.
