As the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) approaches, the Ogun State Police have deployed operatives and operational assets to all 72 accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres across the state. The examination, organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), is scheduled to take place from April 16 to April 25, 2026. In response to this significant event, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi announced that the deployment follows a directive from Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni. This directive emphasizes the adoption of proactive, intelligence-led security measures to ensure a safe, orderly, and credible examination process.

The operational plan prioritizes a visible police presence, early threat detection, and rapid response to any security concerns that may arise before, during, and after the examination period. All Area Commanders in jurisdictions hosting CBT centres have been placed on heightened alert and instructed to oversee security management in their respective areas. They are responsible for supervising deployed personnel, maintaining patrols around examination venues, and coordinating closely with Divisional Police Officers, tactical teams, and JAMB officials to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.

Authorities have issued a stern warning that any attempts to engage in examination malpractice, impersonation, or disorderly conduct will be met with swift and decisive action, including arrest and prosecution. Commissioner Ojajuni has assured residents of robust and proactive security coverage throughout the examination period. He has also urged candidates to adhere strictly to all examination guidelines and to conduct themselves responsibly at all centres. The UTME, conducted annually by JAMB, serves as the primary entry examination for tertiary institutions in Nigeria. With over 1.8 million candidates registered nationwide for the 2026 session, security agencies have intensified measures to prevent disruptions and maintain the integrity of the examination process.
