Judy Austin's ex-husband, Obasi counters Yul Edochie's advice on marriage

Actor Yul Edochie has sparked a debate online after advising men to stop tolerating disrespect in marriage, asserting that respect for a man is “non-negotiable.” His statement, shared on social media, quickly garnered responses from various individuals, including Obasi Emmanuel, the ex-husband of actress Judy Austin. Obasi, who has previously accused Edochie of taking Judy from their marriage, offered a sharply contrasting viewpoint.

In a Facebook post on Thursday evening, Obasi cautioned against using marital conflict as a justification for engaging in serial relationships. He stated, “If your only option is to run to another woman when you feel disrespected, you will build three football teams, including the fans, in your lifetime in the name of marriage.” He emphasized that true manhood is characterized by the ability to manage a partner’s excesses rather than fleeing from them. “If you can’t take or control a woman’s excesses, you are not yet a man; you’re a boy. So you have to be very careful,” Obasi remarked, directly countering Edochie’s advice.

This exchange occurs amid ongoing public scrutiny of Yul Edochie’s marriage to Judy Austin, which followed her separation from Obasi. Media Talk Africa reports that Obasi has also accused Judy of denying him access to their children since their separation. The public dispute has ignited widespread discussions on social media regarding marital expectations, gender roles, and the complexities of modern relationships within Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
