Blackburn Rovers will have defender Ryan Alebiosu available for Friday’s Sky Bet Championship fixture against Coventry City, head coach Michael O’Neill has confirmed.
The Nigerian right-back, who has made 38 league appearances for Rovers this season with one goal and four assists, was substituted at half-time during Tuesday’s defeat at Southampton after falling awkwardly in a challenge with Ryan Manning. O’Neill provided a positive injury update ahead of the visit of the league leaders to Ewood Park.
“Ryan came through training today having come off in the game on Tuesday night, so that was a bonus,” O’Neill told RoversTV. The 24-year-old’s availability represents a significant boost for Blackburn as they prepare to face Frank Lampard’s Coventry side, who currently top the Championship table.
Alebiosu has established himself as a regular starter for Rovers this season, contributing both defensively and in attack. His presence will be particularly important against a Coventry team that has shown strong form throughout the campaign.
The match at Ewood Park on Friday night presents an opportunity for Blackburn to test themselves against the division’s pace-setters, with Alebiosu’s fitness adding to their options as they look to secure a positive result.
