President Bola Tinubu has firmly responded to opposition critics, asserting that he will not be intimidated by their pressure. He labeled them as “noise-makers” who disregard the rule of law. These comments were made during a meeting with leaders and coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors from all 36 states at the State House in Abuja. The delegation was led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
Tinubu expressed his determination, stating, “They want to scare me off? That is a lie. I have been through this path before.” He emphasized his commitment to governance and his focus on national affairs, indicating that he would not be distracted by criticism. Reflecting on his journey during the 2023 elections, he described both the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries and the general election as challenging yet ultimately successful. He noted that his political experiences have equipped him to handle the demands of leadership.
The president acknowledged the various comments he has received, stating, “I am inspired by all of you.” He framed his leadership as an opportunity to break the chains of poverty and ignorance, instill freedom in the hearts of the people, and ensure the survival of democracy. He dismissed the influence of “noise-making or rascality of street conventions” as irrelevant to his mission.
Tinubu also underscored the importance of respecting lawful court orders and the judiciary, regardless of whether their decisions favor the government. He described this respect as fundamental to democracy, highlighting the separation of powers and the necessity of preserving Nigeria’s nationhood. “We must build one country with a shared vision for progress and prosperity. That is what Renewed Hope stands for,” he stated. His comments come amid ongoing political tensions and criticism from opposition figures regarding his administration’s policies and governance style, signaling a resolute stance against perceived attempts to undermine his leadership through public pressure and disregard for legal institutions.
