The Rivers State Police Command has deployed operatives to secure Computer-Based Test centres throughout the state in preparation for the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This initiative, announced by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Blessing Agabe, follows directives from Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu. The aim is to ensure safety during the examination period.
Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju has ordered the deployment of personnel, operational assets, and intelligence resources to all approved JAMB centres. Agabe stated that officers have been instructed to uphold professionalism, prevent examination malpractice, and maintain orderliness at all UTME venues. The police will work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to secure not only the examination venues but also the surrounding areas and access routes.
To deter any potential security breaches, enhanced patrols, intelligence gathering, and traffic control measures have been implemented around the centres. Adepoju has urged candidates, parents, and guardians to cooperate with security personnel and adhere to the examination guidelines. He emphasized that any attempts to undermine the integrity of the examination would result in strict legal action.
The command has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
