Former Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given has praised the attacking qualities of Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze following Fulham’s goalless draw against Brentford on Saturday. Chukwueze, who is currently on loan from AC Milan, was brought onto the pitch before halftime due to an injury sustained by fellow Nigerian Alex Iwobi, who left the game with a suspected hamstring issue.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Given emphasized Chukwueze’s offensive capabilities and expressed optimism about his potential impact on the match. “Chukwueze has come on. I like him as well; he is a genuinely attacking player. You can expect to see similar link-up play in the second half,” Given remarked. He added that a bit of excitement was needed, as the first half had been quite lackluster. Just before halftime, Keane Lewis-Potter had a significant opportunity to give Brentford the lead but failed to capitalize on it.
Despite Chukwueze’s introduction, Fulham could not break the deadlock and ultimately settled for a draw as they aimed to recover from their recent defeat to Liverpool. Since joining Craven Cottage, the Nigerian international has made a notable impact, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 19 league appearances. His performances have reportedly led the Premier League side to consider a permanent transfer at the end of the season.
