Josh Paschal among 11 players trying out for Browns at minicamp this week

The Cleveland Browns are holding their mandatory minicamp this week, and veteran defensive end Josh Paschal is among the participants on a tryout basis. Paschal, a 2022 second‑round pick of the Detroit Lions, was released by Detroit last month after missing the entire 2023 season due to back surgery.

Paschal’s NFL journey began with promise. In his first three seasons with the Lions, he appeared in 36 games, recording 62 tackles and five sacks. Although his absence last year was a setback, his participation in Cleveland’s minicamp signals continued interest from NFL teams in his potential contribution on the defensive line.

The Browns’ minicamp features a total of 11 players on tryouts, as reported by Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal. Alongside Paschal, the group includes wide receiver Keith Kirkwood, running back Sincere McCormick, safety Patrick McMorris, cornerback Keenan Garber, safety JT Woods, defensive tackle Fatoma Mulbah, defensive end Markees Watts, tackle Tyler McLellan, center Joe Michalski, and defensive tackle Jacob Sykes.

For Cleveland, these tryouts represent an opportunity to evaluate talent ahead of the regular season. Coming off a playoff appearance, the Browns are looking to bolster depth across multiple positions, and Paschal’s experience and pass‑rushing ability could be particularly valuable if he can return to pre‑injury form.

The minicamp runs through Thursday and includes both on‑field drills and classroom sessions. It marks the final scheduled on‑field activity of Cleveland’s offseason program before training camp begins in late July. As teams finalize their rosters, players like Paschal hope to make a strong impression in limited time, with their NFL futures hinging on how quickly they can regain the form that made them second‑round picks just two years ago.
