INEC launches Ondo CVR claims & objections, Apr 29‑May 5

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has set the dates for the Claims and Objections exercise for the second phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Ondo State. The exercise will run from Wednesday, 29 April 2026, through Tuesday, 5 May 2026, according to a statement released by Ogunseye Olayinka, Head of the Voter Education and Publicity Department, on behalf of Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr Mutiu Agboke.

During the seven‑day period, the Preliminary Register of Voters will be displayed daily at all 18 local government area (LGA) offices in the state, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The display allows newly registered voters, those who have applied for transfer, or individuals who have updated their biodata to verify the accuracy of their details. It also provides a window for the public to report omissions, errors, or any other discrepancies that require correction.

INEC highlighted that the Claims and Objections exercise is intended to identify and remove ineligible entries from the register. Such entries may include under‑age registrants, deceased persons, and non‑citizens whose names may have mistakenly appeared in the preliminary list. The commission stressed that cleaning the register is essential to maintaining its integrity and credibility ahead of upcoming elections.

The statement reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to public participation under the leadership of Dr Agboke. “The commission is poised to ensure robust public engagement to enhance participation and awareness,” the release said. Eligible citizens and registered voters in Ondo State are urged to take advantage of the opportunity to review the register, submit objections where appropriate, and contribute to a transparent electoral process.

The Claims and Objections exercise forms part of INEC’s broader effort to strengthen the electoral roll across Nigeria, ensuring that future polls are conducted on a reliable and trustworthy voter database.
