The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) announced that 46 vessels carrying petroleum products, foodstuffs and other cargoes are slated to arrive at Lagos’ Apapa, Lekki Deep Sea and Tincan Island ports between 28 April and 8 May 2026. The daily shipping position released by the authority indicates that 14 of the incoming ships will berth with containers of assorted goods, while the remaining 32 vessels are expected to unload fresh fish, general cargo, aviation fuel, crude oil, base oil, diesel, gasoline, petrol and bulk wheat.
In addition to the scheduled arrivals, the NPA reported that 11 ships and tankers have already reached the three ports and are awaiting berths. These vessels are loaded with general cargo, bulk urea, aviation fuel, gasoline, bulk fertilizer and crude oil. Current port activity includes 21 ships that are actively discharging cargo at Lekki Deep Sea, Apapa and Tincan Island. The cargoes being off‑loaded comprise bulk urea, containers, bulk gas, gasoline, petrol, bulk gypsum, bulk fertilizer and crude oil.
The expected influx reflects Lagos’ role as Nigeria’s primary maritime gateway and underscores the importance of the newly commissioned Lekki Deep Sea Port in handling larger volumes of oil‑related and bulk commodities. The NPA’s daily shipping position is a routine publication that provides stakeholders with up‑to‑date information on vessel movements, berth allocations and cargo types, facilitating logistics planning for exporters, importers and service providers.
The upcoming arrivals are likely to increase port throughput and generate ancillary economic activity, including trucking, warehousing and customs operations. Port officials will continue to monitor vessel schedules and berth availability to minimize dwell times and maintain operational efficiency across the three ports.
The NPA will provide further updates as vessels arrive and cargoes are discharged, ensuring that shipping lines and cargo owners have current information on port operations.
