Olakunle Churchill, a Nigerian businessman and philanthropist, has denied rumours that his marriage to actress Rosy Meurer has ended. The speculation began after Meurer posted a video on social media re‑introducing herself without mentioning her husband or wearing a wedding ring.
In a statement posted on his Instagram account on Wednesday, Churchill described the reports of a divorce as “completely false” and “baseless.” He clarified that there was never a legally recognised marriage between the two, noting that no church or civil ceremony took place and that their relationship consisted only of an introduction. Consequently, he said, the notion of a divorce is unfounded.
Churchill added that he has not been served with any divorce papers by Meurer or her legal representatives. He emphasized that any legitimate legal proceeding requires formal service and an opportunity to respond. “What exactly is being presented to the public, and how was it obtained?” he asked, questioning the credibility of the alleged documents and the speed with which they were purportedly produced.
The businessman also addressed past personal matters involving actress‑turned‑evangelist Tonto Dikeh. He said Meurer was aware of his prior child and the dispute with Dikeh before their relationship began, and that such issues were private matters between the parties involved. Churchill stated that any offense caused by Dikeh should be directed at him, and that both he and Dikeh have chosen to forgive each other.
Regarding Meurer’s support during his conflict with Dikeh, Churchill acknowledged her public criticism but asserted that, had she not stood by him, “someone else would have occupied that position in my life.” He maintained that challenges within his personal relationships are his responsibility to resolve.
The rumours of marital trouble surfaced amid reports that Churchill’s reconciliation with Dikeh—following a ten‑year separation that ended in divorce in 2017—had strained his relationship with Meurer. Dikeh and Churchill, who married in 2015 and share a son, King Andre, publicly reunited for their son’s tenth birthday and other family events. Shortly after these appearances, Meurer unfollowed Churchill on Instagram, fueling further speculation.
Churchill’s statement seeks to put an end to the circulating divorce claims. No court filings or official documents have been made public to substantiate the allegations. The matter remains a private dispute, and no further legal action has been announced.
