APC Extends Deadline for 2027 Election Forms to May 5, 2026

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced an extension of the deadlines for the sale and submission of aspirants’ Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the 2027 general elections. The decision, taken by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) during its Thursday meeting in Abuja, pushes the closing dates to May 4 and May 5, 2026, respectively.

Deputy National Publicity Secretary Durosinmi Meseko told journalists that the sale of forms, originally slated to run from 25 April to 2 May, will now close at midnight on Monday, 4 May 2026. The deadline for submitting completed forms together with the required supporting documents has been moved to midnight on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.

The extension follows a nationwide public holiday on Friday, which the party says would have limited the ability of many aspirants to purchase and complete the forms on time. Meseko added that the change also reflects the high level of interest expressed by potential candidates across the country.

The APC’s schedule for the 2027 election cycle includes several key milestones. After the expression of interest phase, successful aspirants will proceed to the nomination stage, which culminates in the party’s primary elections. Timely filing of forms is essential for candidates to be eligible for the subsequent internal contests that determine the party’s presidential, gubernatorial and legislative tickets.

The adjustment aligns the APC’s timeline with practical considerations, ensuring broader participation while maintaining the overall calendar for the 2027 elections. Stakeholders, including political analysts and civil society groups, have noted that the party’s procedural clarity is crucial for a transparent candidate selection process.

Aphorists and party officials are now urging interested aspirants to complete the required paperwork promptly to avoid missing the revised deadlines. The APC’s communications department has confirmed that the updated schedule will be reflected on the party’s official website and social media channels.

The extension underscores the party’s responsiveness to logistical challenges and the enthusiasm of prospective candidates ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 electoral contests. Further updates on the nomination process are expected as the APC moves toward its internal primaries later in the year.
