Bimpe Akintunde Announces Divorce, Calls Herself Single

Nollywood actress and producer Bimpe Akintunde announced the termination of her marriage to Ganiyu in a statement posted on her Instagram account on Friday.

In the message, Akintunde described the end of the relationship as the close of “a chapter” that has prepared her for a “stronger, more beautiful story ahead.” She explained that after “deep reflection, prayers and honest conversations” with herself and her family, she chose to share the news publicly because she had previously spoken of her happiness and felt obliged to be transparent about her current reality.

Akintunde noted that prior to the birth of her second child, she was in a marriage that lasted less than three years. She said the experience brought “lessons, tears, strength and growth,” and that she continued to rely on her faith in God, whom she referred to as “the Author of my journey.” The actress affirmed that she is moving forward with “peace, healing and purpose” for herself and her children.

The statement emphasized that she is “not broken, but rebuilt; not defeated, but refined,” and she identified herself as single. Akintunde thanked supporters, friends and family for their prayers and encouragement, extending gratitude to her “beautiful daughters.” She concluded with a prayer for continued guidance from Almighty Allah and a traditional Yoruba expression, “Oluwa a duro ti gbogbo wa ni gbogbo ona o,” meaning “May God protect us all on every path.”

Akintunde also mentioned that the announcement coincides with her birth month, a period she describes as one of “reflection, gratitude and new beginnings.” She invited her followers to join her in celebrating this personal milestone.

The actress’s public disclosure adds to a growing number of Nigerian entertainers who are openly discussing personal relationship changes on social media. While no legal documents have been released, the Instagram post serves as a formal acknowledgment of the marriage’s conclusion.

Fans and industry observers are expected to monitor how the development influences Akintunde’s upcoming projects, as she continues to balance her professional responsibilities with her role as a single mother.
