Carter Efe slams organizers over delayed N50 million payout

Carter Efe, a well‑known Nigerian livestreamer who won a recent celebrity boxing bout, has publicly complained that the N50 million prize money has not been paid.

The Media Talk Africa reported that Efe defeated singer Portable in a match held on Friday, securing the N50 million award. Following the fight, Portable alleged that the bout’s outcome was pre‑arranged by the organisers, claiming the result was staged to avoid settling the N23 billion in bets placed by fans on his opponent’s victory.

In a video posted to social media, Efe addressed the issue of the outstanding payment. “Dem never give me my money oo. I never see N50 million ooo. I nearly die for that fight, I never see the N50 million. Make dem pay me the N50 oo,” he said, expressing frustration over the delay.

The organiser of the event has not responded to requests for comment, and no official statement has been released regarding the status of the prize disbursement. The controversy adds to ongoing debates about the regulation of celebrity boxing in Nigeria, where such events have grown in popularity but often lack clear oversight on financial obligations and betting arrangements.

Stakeholders, including the Nigerian Boxing Federation and the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, have previously called for stricter monitoring of prize payouts in high‑profile fights. Should the matter remain unresolved, Efe may pursue legal avenues to claim the award.

The incident highlights the challenges faced by participants in entertainment‑driven combat sports, where prize money and betting stakes can reach significant sums. As the situation develops, observers will be watching for any formal response from the event promoters and potential regulatory action to ensure compliance with contractual and financial responsibilities.
