Ibrahim Little picks ADC form, promises jobs, industrial revival — Daily Nigerian

Ibrahim Ali Amin Little, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), became the first governorship aspirant to secure the party’s nomination form for the 2027 general elections. The former All Peoples Party (APP) chairman in Kano collected the form from the ADC national headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, formally announcing his intention to contest the Kano State governorship on the ADC platform.

Little said his decision to enter the race is driven by a desire to “rescue Kano State” from what he described as poor leadership and to build a modern, people‑centred administration. He outlined a programme focused on curbing political violence, expanding social welfare, and reducing poverty. “My interest is the people of Kano. We must ensure the total eradication of political thuggery, strengthen social welfare and prioritise poverty eradication, alongside the provision of basic amenities, quality education, functional hospitals and adequate water supply,” he said.

In addition to security and welfare priorities, Little pledged to advance agriculture, youth empowerment, industrial revival and overall economic growth. He highlighted Kano’s agricultural potential, stating that increased farming activity would generate employment for young people and boost food production. “I will boost farming in Kano and create opportunities for our teeming youths. We will ensure the revival of our industries to stimulate economic growth, create jobs and restore Kano’s position as the commercial hub of Northern Nigeria,” he added.

Speaking to party members and residents, Little emphasised that his campaign is rooted in competence, inclusiveness and a commitment to public service. He expressed confidence that the ADC could emerge as a viable alternative platform capable of winning voter confidence in the 2027 elections.

The move comes as political activity intensifies nationwide ahead of the 2027 general elections. Parties and aspirants are beginning consultations and early preparations for key contests, with nomination forms and candidate declarations marking the first visible steps toward the upcoming electoral cycle. Little’s early filing positions him as a notable figure in the contest for Kano’s governorship and signals the ADC’s intention to contest vigorously for the state’s highest office.
