Shettima submits Tinubu’s nomination forms — Daily Nigerian

Abuja — Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday submitted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nomination and expression of interest forms to the All Progressives Congress (APC) national officers at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre. In his address, Shettima called on APC governors, National Assembly members and party members to rally behind Tinubu’s bid for a second term, citing the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” as evidence of progress.

Shettima highlighted what he described as “phenomenal” socio‑economic results under Tinubu’s leadership, noting that the President had navigated “choppy seas” and taken “difficult but necessary” decisions to stabilise the economy and restore confidence. “Through thick and thin, Tinubu has proved his mettle and shown the world his capacity and resolve to pull the nation out of the woods,” he said, urging all Nigerians to support the nomination as a “sacrifice and contribution” to the country’s future.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Tajudeen Abbas, praised Tinubu’s leadership during a period he characterised as “difficult” for Nigeria, asserting that the President’s reforms had set the nation on a path toward recovery, prosperity and progress. Abbas said the reforms justified Tinubu’s re‑election for a second term.

APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda echoed the sentiment, stating that the performance of Tinubu and the party’s governors across various sectors warranted his re‑nomination. Yilwatda added that the National Working Committee’s endorsement was based on the President’s “sterling performance in critical sectors.”

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, noted the presence of a majority of governors at the event as evidence of the party’s unanimous support for Tinubu. He affirmed that the governors would work “assiduously” to secure the President’s re‑election and complete the initiatives begun during his first term.

The nomination filing marks a formal step in the APC’s internal process ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Party officials indicated that further endorsements and internal primaries will follow, positioning Tinubu as the APC’s standard‑bearer for the upcoming electoral cycle.
