'People thought my husband was impotent' - Priscilla Ojo

Nigerian influencer Priscilla Ojo has disclosed that her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, faced rumors of impotence in his home country because he had not fathered a child by age 35, despite his high profile and financial success.

The speculation arose from comparisons with Jux’s peers; many of his friends and fellow musicians already had children, while he remained child‑free despite multiple past relationships. In a candid interview with media personality Chude Jidenowo, Ojo recounted the pressure the couple endured before the birth of their first child in August 2025.

According to Ojo, the rumors persisted even after their son’s arrival. Critics suggested the baby might have been the result of surrogacy or implantation rather than a natural pregnancy. “In Tanzania, people thought he was impotent because he did not have a child or ‘babymama’ like his many friends and colleagues,” she said. “They were like, ‘Why is he not having kids like his friends?’”

Ojo noted that Jux remained focused on his own timeline. “He knew when it was time. He is very disciplined. He knew what he wanted. You can roll with certain people and not be like them,” she added.

The couple’s marital journey began with a civil ceremony in Tanzania in February 2025. They later relocated to Lagos, Nigeria, where they held traditional and white wedding celebrations in April 2025. Their first child, a boy named Prince Rakeem Ayomide Mkambala, was born in Canada in August 2025.

The episode highlights lingering cultural expectations surrounding marriage and parenthood in East Africa, where childbearing is often seen as a benchmark of masculine success. While Juma Jux’s career continues to thrive, the couple’s experience underscores the personal challenges public figures may face when private matters become subjects of public debate.

Both Ojo and Jux have not commented further on the rumors, focusing instead on their new family life. Their story adds to ongoing conversations about societal pressure, reproductive choices, and the scrutiny faced by celebrities across the African continent.
