Osun State – The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, told members of the Association of Mobile Telecommunication Engineers of Nigeria (Osun State Chapter) that the August 15 election would become a historic moment for the state. Speaking in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyebamiji said voters would turn out in large numbers to elect him governor, describing the expected outcome as “a return to a progressive path” for Osun.
Represented at the gathering by Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, chairman of Civic Engagement for the APC Campaign Council, the candidate expressed confidence that “history will be made on August 15 as I will be elected governor of the state.” He added that his campaign was grounded in faith and the support of the electorate.
Oyebamiji outlined an agenda he called “PROSPER,” which focuses on economic security, health care, education and social protection. He pledged to expand social safety nets for vulnerable groups, create jobs by supporting small‑scale enterprises, and stimulate larger businesses through funding, capacity building and infrastructure development. He emphasized that effective governance requires commitment and focus, and said his administration would work to deliver the “dividends of democracy” to residents across Osun.
Addressing the telecom engineers, Oyebamiji highlighted the sector’s role in economic growth and promised to back its development if elected. He urged stakeholders to disregard what he described as a “campaign of calumny” aimed at him during the electoral contest.
Abdulrasaki Ejalonibu, president of the association, affirmed the group’s support for the APC candidate, noting that members felt encouraged by the recognition they received during the tenure of former governor Adegboyega Oyetola. The association called on Oyebamiji to fulfill his commitments should he win the governorship.
The election, scheduled for August 15, will determine whether the APC retains the governorship in Osun State, a region that has alternated between the party and its rivals in recent cycles. Oyebamiji’s statements signal a continued push by the APC to consolidate its position ahead of the vote.
