Imo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) affirmed its organisational cohesion and strategic readiness in a communique released on Tuesday following a state executive committee meeting in Owerri. The statement, issued by Publicity Secretary Chief Macdonald Amadi, said the committee convened to evaluate the party’s current condition, reinforce internal unity and sharpen its approach ahead of the next general election cycle.
The gathering, held against a backdrop of recent political realignments in the state, was described as an opportunity for the committee to “reaffirm the party’s stability, direction and commitment to disciplined, issue‑based politics.” The communique rejected circulating rumors of internal division, insisting that such insinuations “do not reflect the reality on the ground.”
To sustain momentum, the committee resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation across all 27 local government areas in Imo. According to Amadi, the expanded outreach will deepen civic participation, solidify the membership base and position the ADC to enter forthcoming primaries and elections with “unmatched organisational strength.”
The statement also highlighted the party’s confidence in senior state figures. It praised former Governor Emeka Ihedioha and former Deputy Governor Engr. Gerald Irona for their “commitment, experience and stabilising influence” in keeping the party united. At the national level, the Imo chapter pledged “unalloyed loyalty” to ADC National Chairman Senator David Mark and affirmed alignment with the National Working Committee’s vision.
Concluding, the communique reiterated the ADC’s dedication to a united Nigeria grounded in “justice, competence and inclusive development.” It called on members to remain steadfast, avoid distractions and rededicate themselves to “building a party that will restore confidence in governance and deliver tangible progress to the people.”
The Imo State executive’s pronouncement signals that the ADC is gearing up for a coordinated national campaign, emphasizing grassroots engagement and disciplined leadership as it prepares for upcoming electoral contests. The party’s next steps will likely involve mobilisation drives, policy workshops and coordination with the national structure as the electoral calendar progresses.
