Kaduna: How 2026 budget will be funded - Commissioner

Kaduna Governor Uba Sani has created a high‑level consensus committee to oversee party harmonisation and aspirant engagement across the state. The body, announced by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, is intended to deepen mediation among aspirants, promote cohesion among party stakeholders and preserve internal unity as elections approach.

Maiyaki said the committee will serve as a liaison between aspirants, party leaders and other key actors, seeking amicable resolutions in constituencies where multiple interests clash. “Where necessary, the committee will encourage voluntary withdrawals in the broader interest of party harmony and electoral success,” he added.

The move reflects Governor Sani’s stated commitment to inclusive leadership and internal cohesion within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna. The Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, will chair the committee, while the party secretary, Arch Abubakar Rabiu, will act as secretary.

Membership includes Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly Yusuf Liman, Kaduna State APC Chairman Atiku Sankey, and Secretary to the State Government Dr AbdulKadir Muazu Meyere. Also on the panel are the Governor’s Chief of Staff Alhaji Sani Kila, Commissioner for Justice and Attorney‑General Dr James Kanyip, the Commissioner for Information and Culture himself, and Deputy Chief of Staff for Legal Services Dr Mustapha Musa.

By institutionalising a structured forum for dispute resolution and consensus‑building, the state government aims to mitigate intra‑party friction and present a united front ahead of forthcoming polls. Observers note that such mechanisms, if effectively implemented, could enhance political stability and improve the APC’s electoral prospects in Kaduna. The committee’s activities will be closely watched as the state moves toward the next election cycle.
