Houston Texans have added three draft selections to their roster, signing each to a four‑year rookie contract. Linebacker Wade Woodaz, a fourth‑round pick, safety Kamari Ramsey, selected in the fifth round, and wide receiver Lewis Bond, chosen in the sixth round, are now officially under contract with the team.
Ramsey joins the Texans after a collegiate career split between UCLA and USC, where he compiled 133 tackles, 9.5 sacks, two interceptions, 11 passes defensed and two forced fumbles across 35 games. Bond arrives from Boston College, where he recorded 213 receptions for 2,385 yards and 11 touchdowns in 46 contests. Woodaz’s signing had been previously reported, and the new contracts bring the trio into the Texans’ 2024‑2025 roster plans.
In a separate roster move, Houston waived defensive end Xavier Thomas, designating him as injured. Thomas, a 2024 fifth‑round pick of the Arizona Cardinals, spent the tail end of last season on the Texans’ practice squad before his release.
The additions and waiver reflect Houston’s continued effort to develop depth on both sides of the ball as the franchise looks to improve its competitive standing. With the new contracts in place, the three rookies will now participate in offseason programs, minicamps and training camp, where they will vie for playing time and aim to earn roles on the active roster.
The Texans’ front office has indicated that the influx of young talent aligns with a broader strategy to blend drafted players with veteran presence, seeking a more balanced and dynamic squad. As the league moves toward the upcoming season, observers will watch how these signings influence the team’s depth chart and whether the drafted players can translate their college production into NFL impact.
