Nanle Miracle Dariye, son of former Plateau State governor Joshua Dariye, has formally withdrawn from the contest for the Mangu/Bokkos Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. The decision, announced in a statement posted on his social‑media accounts on Friday, was taken after what he described as “extensive consultations” with his family, senior members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang.
Dariye, who entered the race under the APC banner, said the withdrawal was a “painful and difficult” choice made following “deep reflection” on the prevailing political realities. He underscored that the move was intended to preserve unity, peace and stability within both the constituency and the ruling party.
In his address to supporters, Dariye thanked them for their dedication throughout the campaign and acknowledged the high expectations placed on his candidacy. He urged his followers to remain calm and not allow the development to sow division. “Leadership demands not only the courage to aspire but also the wisdom to make difficult sacrifices for the greater good,” he wrote, adding that the collective interest of the constituency outweighs individual ambition.
While stepping back from the electoral contest, Dariye emphasized that his commitment to the people of Mangu/Bokkos remains unchanged. “I am not stepping away from our people, our dreams, or our collective future. My dedication to peace, unity, development and progress is unwavering,” he affirmed.
The withdrawal clears the way for the APC to reconsolidate its support behind the remaining candidates in the constituency. Observers note that such intra‑party adjustments are common in Nigeria’s fluid political landscape, where consensus among party leaders often determines the final slate of contenders.
The development is likely to reshape the contest in Mangu/Bokkos, prompting other aspirants to recalibrate their strategies ahead of the upcoming election. Further statements from the APC hierarchy or from Governor Mutfwang are expected as the party seeks to present a united front in the constituency.
