Zaria’s All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed Speaker Abbas Tajuddeen as its sole candidate for the federal constituency seat. The affirmation, conducted on Saturday in Zaria, was overseen by Hamisu‑Ibrahim Kubau, the Returning Officer for the APC House of Representatives primary, and confirmed by 1,376 party members representing all 13 wards of the constituency.
The process was monitored by INEC Electoral Officer Balason Miga, the APC Primary Election Committee chaired by Senator Yakubu Shuaibu, and a contingent of security officials. Ward executives and returning officers from each ward attended the peaceful gathering, which followed an earlier endorsement of the speaker by 250 delegates in his home ward, Kwarbai B, within Zaria Local Government.
In his acceptance remarks, Abbas Tajuddeen hailed the endorsement as a historic moment that reflects the confidence placed in his leadership style. He recalled the 2019 primaries, noting that delegates had supported him without inducements, and emphasized that the current affirmation signals continued appreciation for his representation and for President Bola Tinubu’s governance.
Tajuddeen expressed gratitude for the trust extended to him over the past sixteen years of public service. He pledged to intensify legislative efforts and to attract people‑centred projects that directly improve the lives of constituents. Citing the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the current administration, he highlighted the infrastructural gains achieved in Zaria and urged residents to translate that progress into robust voter participation.
The endorsement consolidates Tajuddeen’s position as the APC’s uncontested candidate for Zaria’s federal seat, setting the stage for the upcoming electoral contest. Stakeholders anticipate that the unified front will influence campaign dynamics across Kaduna state, while observers will watch how the party leverages its infrastructural record to mobilize voter support in forthcoming polls.
