Super Eagles coach José Peseiro, who was in Naples to watch Napoli’s 2‑0 victory over Atalanta at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium on Saturday, said Ademola Lookman is more technical than Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. Speaking to SportsItalia, Peseiro praised Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini for his role in Lookman’s development, noting that the player has become “more inclined to create chances and he is now also scoring.” He added that Lookman “grew up with Gasperini, is always playing well, and we’re happy with him,” and that the Nigerian can still aspire to achieve great things.

The match itself featured a stunning strike from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who scored his 11th goal of the debut Serie A season in the 60th minute. After a twinkle‑toed run into the penalty area and a pass from Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia unleashed an explosive finish that left Atalanta captain Rafael Toloi bewildered with his shimmying footwork. Defenders were powerless to stop the masterpiece. Amir Rrahmani later secured the points with a looping header in the 77th minute, following a corner from Eljif Elmas that sent the ball into the danger zone.

Lookman is currently third in the Serie A top‑scorer race, with 12 goals from 25 league appearances for Atalanta, behind Osimhen’s 19 goals in 21 games and Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez, who has scored 14 times in 26 matches. Peseiro emphasized that the remarkable progress of the two Nigerians, who have combined for 31 Serie A goals this season, is no accident. “It is no coincidence that they have both grown like this this year,” he said. “Both are in a good game system. Atalanta and Napoli want the ball, they want to play and attack. In these conditions, players like this are exalted. Italian football has changed a lot in recent years.”
