Kwara State Governor Abdul Rahman Abdul Razaq has been urged to seek a second term by prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). At a press conference and prayer session organized by the Abdul Rahman Abdul Razaq Progressive Platform in Ilorin on Sunday, APC women leader Hajia Hud Shekinat appealed to the people of Kwara to support the governor’s re‑election. She praised his first‑term administration for giving women unprecedented recognition, noting that “no administration since the creation of the state has given women the recognition that the incumbent has.” Hud highlighted the governor’s focus on women’s issues, saying, “He made us proud as women in the state during his first term; he brought us to the limelight. We are not restricted to the kitchen as some would say, so we have no other option but to support his re‑election so that the good works can continue.” She added that women have benefited from scholarships, road construction, empowerment programmes and other initiatives, enjoying more progress than in the previous 16 years.
Also speaking at the event, octogenarian APC chieftain Alhaji Azeez Adebayo, convener of the Progressive Platform, described the governor’s administration as “divinely ordained” and urged voters to back him in the March 18, 2023 election. Adebayo asserted that Abdul Razaq’s achievements in four years have surpassed those of past administrations over the previous 16 years, emphasizing the governor’s compassion for the masses and his commitment to moving the state forward. He dismissed opposition criticisms as irrelevant, labeling opponents “enemies of Kwara State” and noting that earlier governments merely shared allocations without fostering real development.
Alhaji Ayuba Aduragba, central coordinator of the Abdul Rahman Abdul Razaq Progressive Platform, reiterated these points in his address, listing the governor’s monumental achievements over the past four years. He called on everyone to vote for Abdul Razaq on Saturday, urging that the continuation of his policies will bring further developmental projects for the benefit of all Kwara residents.
