The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) reported that 43 victims of the train‑bus accident remain admitted in its facilities. Earlier, on Thursday, LASUTH announced it had received 102 victims of the PWD train‑bus crash for treatment.

Adebayo Taofiq, Director of the Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, tweeted on Thursday morning that a Lagos State Government staff bus (registration No 04A‑48LA) was crushed by a moving train at PWD in the Ikeja area. He noted that the bus was fully loaded with government staff traveling to the office that morning, resulting in many casualties.

A statement signed by the Ministry of Health, titled “Updates on the Bus/Train Accident in Lagos as of Sunday, March 12, 2023,” indicated that 53 victims had been discharged. It clarified that, as of that Sunday, 53 patients/passengers had been released, while 43 remained admitted. The distribution of these patients is as follows: LASUTH is caring for 39, General Hospital Odan‑Lagos for two, and General Hospital Gbagada for two.

The statement also detailed the post‑triage allocation of victims across Lagos hospitals: LASUTH handled 71 patients, GH Lagos received four victims, GH Orile‑Agege took ten, GH Gbagada six, and the Tollgate Trauma Centre five. Of the six deaths recorded, two occurred at the accident site and four occurred at LASUTH during resuscitation.
