The 2023 Mock‑UTME, originally slated for Thursday, 16 March 2023, has been moved to Thursday, 30 March 2023, according to the examination board’s statement on Monday afternoon. The date change is partly due to the rescheduling of the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections, which were to be held on Saturday, 11 March 2023, but have now been shifted to 18 March 2023. Candidates who registered early and indicated their willingness to take the Mock‑UTME will be notified when to print their notification slips, which will contain centre details and other relevant information.
The Mock‑UTME is an optional examination introduced by JAMB to give candidates hands‑on experience with the system and to allow the board to assess its own readiness, as well as that of its partners, for the main UTME scheduled for 29 April to 12 May 2023. JAMB also announced that this year’s UTME will feature several groundbreaking innovations aimed at addressing observed infractions and centre failures. For example, if a session is delayed by up to one hour before its scheduled start, the session will be cancelled and rescheduled for the candidates. Conversely, no examination may commence more than one hour after its scheduled start time; any such session will be moved to an available slot.
Official statistics show that 168,748 candidates have registered for the 2023 Mock‑UTME out of more than 1.5 million prospective candidates for the main UTME.
