The Delta State police arrested three suspected robbers on March 12, 2023 at about 9:00 a.m. after the Eagle‑Net Special Squad intercepted them while they were riding a stolen tricycle bearing registration number RRU 773 QK. During a thorough search, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Bright Edafe discovered three locally made guns and a live cartridge hidden inside a bag of rice. Two of the suspects fled into the bush, abandoning the tricycle and its 26‑year‑old rider, Ahmed Umaru of Ayingba Local Government Area, Kogi State. Umaru was arrested, the weapons were recovered, and authorities continue to pursue the fleeing suspects.
In a separate operation, a team from “COBRA 11”—comprising members of the response squad, Raiders squad, and operations department—dismantled a syndicate of impostors posing as military personnel in Asaba. Acting on an intelligence report that the group was planning to cause mayhem in the state, the raid was carried out on March 12, 2022 around the Okwe Axis in Asaba, Oshimili South LGA. Commissioner of Police CP Ari Muhammed Ali reported that two men, Mike Okon (27) and Wilson Sunday (24), both from Cross‑River State, were arrested. A search of Okon, who was wearing army camouflage and black jungle boots, yielded those items, while three green berets and one black beret were recovered from Sunday.
