Seplat Energy Plc is stepping up to tackle one of Africa’s most pressing challenges: the widening gap in education access and the urgent need to prepare young people for the jobs of tomorrow. The energy giant has been named the official Theme Partner for the Education Session at the 2026 Africa Social Impact Summit, or ASIS.

When the summit convenes at the Eko Convention Centre in Lagos from July 22 to 24, 2026, Seplat Energy will drive strategic conversations around education financing, access to quality learning, and skills development. This is not just another panel discussion; it is a call to action for governments, private sector players, and development partners to work together and deliver scalable, inclusive education outcomes for Africa’s booming youth population.

The summit, organized by Sterling One Foundation in collaboration with the United Nations in Nigeria and the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, carries the theme, ‘Financing for Development: Building Resilience and Transforming Emerging Economies.’ It aims to bridge the gap between rhetoric and reality, especially as Sub-Saharan Africa still accounts for the highest number of out-of-school children globally.

Olapeju Ibekwe, CEO of Sterling One Foundation, made it clear that this is about more than just funding. “Africa’s future will be defined by the investments we make in people today, especially young people. Education remains one of the strongest drivers of economic mobility, innovation and long-term development,” she said. She welcomed Seplat Energy as a theme partner, highlighting the need for bold partnerships and scalable solutions to transform outcomes across the continent.

Roger Brown, CEO of Seplat Energy Plc, echoed that sentiment. “At Seplat Energy, we recognise that education and youth empowerment are fundamental to Africa’s sustainable development. Partnering with the Africa Social Impact Summit provides a platform to contribute meaningfully to solutions that equip young people with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy,” Brown said. He added that the partnership reflects the company’s broader focus on human capital development and its belief that education is a key driver of economic resilience and inclusive growth.

The 2026 summit is expected to draw over 2,000 delegates from more than 50 countries. Attendees will include government officials, investors, development finance institutions, private sector leaders, philanthropists, and civil society organizations. The agenda is packed with high-level dialogues, investor roundtables, and sector-focused sessions designed to catalyze innovative financing solutions and accelerate sustainable development across Africa.
