President‑elect Bola Tinubu has stated that he has no preferred candidates for the leadership of either chamber of the 10th National Assembly. He conveyed this message during a meeting with the newly elected members of the Assembly, a session in which Vice President‑elect Kashim Shettima represented him.
Abdulmalik Bungudu, the member‑elect for the Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency of Zamfara State, relayed the information to our correspondent shortly after the gathering. Speaking in Hausa, Bungudu explained that Tinubu told the attendees he does not favor any individual for the positions of Senate President or Speaker at this time. He added that consultations will continue in order to chart a course for the party and to help ensure its victory in the upcoming governorship and state House of Assembly elections.
