The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has ordered that surgery be carried out immediately for a personnel member injured in an accident while on official duty. The directive was announced in a statement signed by the Corps’ spokesperson, Olusola Odumosu, on Monday. Dr. Audi gave the order during a scheduled visit to the National Hospital in Abuja, where he personally examined the patient and assessed the progress of his treatment.
The injured officer, Asc. II Ibrahim Adam, 40, is a member of the Lagos State Command. He was involved in a road crash at the Giri junction in Abuja on Friday, February 24, 2023, a day before the presidential and National Assembly elections. The accident resulted in the death of one occupant shortly after the incident. Five other injured personnel have already been discharged after showing significant health improvements.
Emphasizing his commitment to the welfare of NSCDC staff, the Commandant General instructed the Head of the NSCDC Health and Medical Services, Oba Jude, to ensure that the officer—diagnosed with a spinal cord injury and multiple fractures—receives the necessary attention. Oba Jude reiterated that the primary goal is to restore the officers to full health, stating, “They are all dedicated and committed officers, and my major concern is to get all of them treated and have them back on their feet again. I see signs of significant improvement when the proposed surgery is carried out. I am ready to pay the bills for the surgery and any associated treatments, no matter the cost.”
Dr. Audi encouraged the patient, who was visibly elated to see the Commandant General at his bedside, to keep his faith in God for complete healing and prayed that such incidents would not recur within the Corps. He also consoled the victims’ families, urging them to remain prayerful as the Corps continues to care for the injured.
