The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, expressed sympathy for the victims of the fire incidents that swept through the Kurmi, Rimi and Singer markets. The statement, released by his Chief Press Secretary, Abba Anwar, to journalists on Tuesday, noted that the blazes destroyed property worth millions of naira.
Ganduje prayed for strength for those who suffered losses and urged market traders to carefully inspect electrical appliances before leaving their premises. “On behalf of the government and the good people of Kano State, I extend our heartfelt condolences to all who have lost their valuables. May Allah guide them in their future endeavors,” Anwar quoted the governor as saying.
He emphasized that the tragedy affects not only shop owners but the entire community, describing it as a national calamity. “May Allah grant them the courage to view this as a divine trial,” Ganduje added. The administration is currently investigating both the immediate and underlying causes of the disaster.
