The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a car snatcher in the Ojodu‑Berger area and recovered two vehicles from his possession. The 36‑year‑old suspect, Dayo Jimoh, allegedly hijacked the vehicles at gunpoint last Saturday together with two accomplices who remain at large.
In a statement released on Tuesday and signed by State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin, officials confirmed that the Rapid Response Squad apprehended Jimoh at about 02:30 hrs on Saturday, March 11, 2023, on Ojodu‑Berger Road. The gang had just stolen a 2003 Toyota Corolla (registration BDG‑946‑GZ) and were in the process of using a 2005 Toyota Camry (registration KRD‑958‑HS), which they had previously seized at gunpoint in Oworo while posing as passengers.
Hundeyin added that investigations are ongoing and urged the owners of the recovered vehicles to present proof of ownership to claim them. He also noted that Commander of the Rapid Response Squad, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, has instructed his men to intensify efforts to apprehend the two fleeing suspects.
