Iran Threatens to Block Strait of Hormuz Again, Citing Israeli Ceasefire Breaches

Iran threatens to close the Strait of Hormuz, accusing Israel of ceasefire violations and U.S. bad faith, risking global oil supplies and peace efforts.

Iran has announced it will once again close the Strait of Hormuz, accusing Israel of violating a fragile ceasefire, according to state media reports on Saturday. The decision, relayed by Iran’s top military command, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, comes as Israeli strikes continue in Lebanon, escalating tensions in a volatile region.

The Strait, a vital artery for global oil supplies and a key bargaining chip in ongoing negotiations, is now at the center of Iran’s retaliatory strategy. The Islamic Republic’s armed forces also condemned what they described as “the United States’ bad faith and its clear breach of its commitments,” further complicating the already tenuous peace deal brokered by the Trump administration.

The threat to close the waterway risks unraveling the delicate ceasefire, which has been a cornerstone of diplomatic efforts. As the situation develops, the world watches closely, with potential ripple effects on energy markets and regional stability.
