The United Kingdom Mission announced that the 2026/2027 Chevening Scholarship application window will open on Tuesday, 4 August, and close on 6 October 2026. The scholarship, funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations, offers fully funded one‑year taught master’s degrees at UK universities to emerging leaders worldwide. Since its launch in 1983, Chevening has aimed to recruit individuals committed to driving positive change in their home countries and to contributing solutions to global challenges.
Emma Hennessey, Head of the Scholarships Unit at the FCDO, urged eligible candidates to apply. “Chevening is looking for exceptional individuals who are ready to collaborate with the UK to help build a more resilient, prosperous and sustainable future,” she said. Hennessey added that the programme remains dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive cohort of future global leaders, expressing particular interest in applications from under‑represented groups. Jonny Baxter, the British Deputy High Commissioner in Lagos, described Chevening as more than an academic scholarship.
