Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has died following a prolonged battle with breast cancer, her colleague Alesh Ola Sanni announced on Wednesday. The actor confirmed she passed away on Tuesday evening, nearly two years after her initial surgery.
Sanni shared the news on Instagram, describing Osoba as a dear sister and reflecting on their shared memories. “Couldn’t sleep since last night it’s well rest in peace my dearest sister Temitope Osoba we had amazing time and good memories together till we meet again,” he wrote.
Osoba’s Health struggles became public in November 2024 when she appealed for financial support to undergo a second surgery. At the time, she disclosed that the cancer had returned and spread, requiring urgent medical intervention she could not afford alone. The appeal highlighted the financial strain many Nigerian entertainers face when confronting serious illness without adequate insurance or institutional support.
The actress first underwent breast cancer surgery approximately two years ago. Her death underscores the ongoing challenges of cancer care accessibility in Nigeria, where treatment costs often fall entirely on patients and their communities.
Osoba was known for her work in Yoruba-language cinema, a vibrant segment of Nigeria’s film industry. Colleagues and fans have since flooded social media with tributes, remembering her talent and resilience.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria has not yet issued an official statement. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by her family in the coming days.
