Kwara PDP Wipes the Slate Clean: All LG Caucuses Dissolved in Bold 2027 Reset

Kwara PDP dissolves all LG caucuses in a major restructuring push ahead of 2027 elections, aiming to refresh structures and expand participation.

The political ground in Kwara State just shifted. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dissolved every single caucus across all 16 local government areas, a sweeping move that signals the start of a fierce rebuilding campaign aimed squarely at the 2027 general elections. The decision, effective immediately, came down from the State Executive Committee after a closed-door session with the party’s heavyweight leader, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, during his recent homecoming tour and stakeholder meetings across the state.

This is not a minor tweak. It is a full demolition of the old guard. The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Olusola Adewara, broke the news in a Sunday statement, framing the dissolution as the cornerstone of a strategy to breathe new life into the party’s machinery. The goal, he made clear, is to inject fresh blood, widen participation, and build a political engine capable of delivering wins at every level.

“The journey towards 2027 has effectively commenced,” Adewara said. “The party needs a more effective and inclusive political machinery capable of delivering victory for the PDP at all levels.” He stressed that the State Executive Committee holds the authority to take whatever steps are necessary to strengthen, reposition, and reorganise the party, always with an eye on the interests of its members and its electoral fortunes.

But the purge comes with a respectful nod to those being shown the door. The party took time to thank the outgoing caucus members for their loyalty, sacrifices, and years of service. “We sincerely appreciate all members of the outgoing caucuses for their dedication, sacrifices, loyalty and contributions to the growth and development of the PDP in Kwara State,” the statement read, urging them to keep lending their experience to the collective cause as the 2027 push gathers steam.

For the rank and file, the message is simple: stay calm, stay united, and stay committed. The party insists that plans are already in motion to recruit, constitute, and inaugurate new caucuses across the state. The old structures are gone. What rises in their place will determine whether the PDP can turn this bold reset into real political capital when the ballots are cast.
