Lagos guber: LP’s Rhodes-Vivour reacts to Oro cult ritual on election day

The Labour Party candidate for the March 18 gubernatorial election in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour has said the Oro Cult ritual festival announced by the Oba Elegushi would not affect the poll.

Reports had emerged that the traditional ruler of the Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom in Lagos State, Saheed Ademola fixed the festival on election day warning residents of parts of the Eti-Osa Local Government Area to stay indoors.

Some politicians alleged that there was a political motive behind the scheduling of the ritual during an election period.

But the LP candidate in a tweet on his official handle said the festival will not affect the Saturday election.

According to him, the ritual would only take place at midnight between 12 am and 5:30 am, prior to election time which is 8 am.

He wrote, “Oro festival WON’T affect Saturday Elections, our esteemed Oba Elegushi has clarified, we thank him for this.

“Lagosians you have NOTHING to fear, come out and VOTE! It takes place from 12-5.30 AM. Voting begins by 8 am.”
