Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwoland, and his wife, Firdaus, have welcomed their first child. After ending his marriage with Jamaican Chanel Chin, Oba Akanbi married the Kano‑born princess Firdaus in March 2022. Since then, the queen has kept a low profile, appearing in public only on a few occasions when the couple received guests at the palace.

The monarch’s press secretary, Alli Ibrahim, announced the birth in a statement obtained late on Wednesday. He wrote, “Oluwo expresses appreciation to Olodumare (God) for blessing my home with this handsome, promising child. Carrying a baby for months is a demanding task, and I congratulate my queen on the arrival of our new child. She deserves accolades. I have great confidence in whatever comes from her womb; the child shall be greater and more prosperous than me. Once again, congratulations to my beautiful, elegant, respectful, and loving queen Firdaus.”
