CeeDee Lamb Burglary: $300K Stolen During Cowboys Camp

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had more than $300,000 in property stolen from his home while the team was conducting training camp in Oxnard, California, according to a report by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram citing The Spit Bucket Podcast.

The burglary occurred on July 30, during the franchise’s annual offseason relocation to the West Coast. A worker discovered a broken window at the property the following day, alerting authorities to the break-in. Among the items taken were four luxury bags. As of the latest update, no suspects have been identified.

The incident highlights a recurring security vulnerability for professional athletes whose travel schedules are publicly known. With the entire Cowboys operation — players, coaches, and support staff — shifted to California for an extended period each summer, residences in the Dallas-Fort Worth area are left unoccupied for weeks at a time. Criminal groups have increasingly exploited this pattern, targeting homes during predictable absences such as road games, playoff runs, and training camps.

Law enforcement agencies across multiple states have previously warned of organized crews that monitor team calendars and social media to time burglaries. The NFL and its players association have advised athletes to enhance home security, employ house sitters, and limit public disclosure of travel plans. However, the scale of the Cowboys’ camp — involving roughly 90 players and a massive support contingent — creates a concentrated window of opportunity that is difficult to mitigate entirely.

Lamb, who signed a four-year, $136 million contract extension in 2024, is one of the league’s highest-paid receivers. The theft represents a significant loss, though it is unclear whether the stolen items were insured or if the investigation has yielded forensic leads. The Dallas Police Department has not released further details.

The case underscores a broader challenge for high-profile athletes balancing public visibility with personal safety. As training camps and offseason programs grow longer and more structured, the predictability of player movements remains a liability. Teams and security consultants continue to explore solutions, but for now, the onus often falls on individual players to protect their properties during mandatory team activities thousands of miles away.
