Femi Aina, the father of National Youth Service Corps member Oreoluwa, who died in the Lagos train accident, said his daughter had been preparing to pursue a master’s degree in the United Kingdom before her untimely death. He recalled that someone had mentioned Oreoluwa was struggling with life, as if she wanted to say something before she died. Aina described his daughter as a loving, hardworking young woman who feared God.
Oreoluwa’s grandmother also spoke about her loss, noting that the girl had lived with her since she was four years old. The elderly woman called the day of the accident a “day of grief,” explaining that Oreoluwa was the only one accompanying her and running errands. She confirmed her son’s statement that Oreoluwa had planned to travel to the United Kingdom for her master’s programme. Additionally, she said Oreoluwa had been involved in catering and was saving money to start a mobile food business.
