2023 Elections: APM clears air on governorship candidate tussle in Rivers, affirms Ekwu

The Allied Peoples Movement, APM, has affirmed Innocent Ekwu as its candidate in Rivers State for Saturday’s governorship election.

The National Chairman, APM, Muhammad Musa, in a statement, sent to Media Talk Africa, on Thursday urged members of the public to discountenance claims by one Prince Atuma, that he was the authentic governorship candidate of the party.

Musa said he was not aware of any meeting or congress where Atuma was elected as the governorship candidate of the party in Rivers.

“I am not aware of any such meeting or congress where Prince Atuma was elected unopposed nor affirmed as our governorship candidate of Rivers State neither do I have such powers to unilaterally produce Prince Atuma as the governorship candidate”, he said.

He described the statement attributed to Atuma as false insisting that the APM’s only governorship candidate in Rivers is Ekwu while the party’s Chairman is Didia Eleazer.

He said: “I would like to make it known here again that our great party, APM, has only one governorship candidate in Rivers, who was elected through primary/Congress as ordered by the National Headquarters following the court judgement of May 20th.

“He is in the person of Chief Innocent Ekwu while our authentic Rivers State Chairman is Hon. Didia Eleazer”.
