The head coach of the Super Eagles, José Peseiro, has announced the 23‑man squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations double‑header qualifying matches against Guinea‑Bissau. The list was published on the Nigeria Football Federation’s website on Thursday and includes both Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho.
Nigeria will host Guinea‑Bissau at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja at 5 p.m. on Friday, 24 March, before travelling to the Estádio 24 de Setembro in Bissau for the return fixture on Monday, 27 March, also at 5 p.m.
Defender Kenneth Omeruo returns to the squad, while midfield enforcers Wilfred Ndidi and Frank Onyeka, and Portugal‑based defender Bruno Onyemaechi, will compete for places alongside Semi Ajayi, Bright Osayi‑Samuel, Kevin Akpoguma and Calvin Bassey. Left‑back Zaidu Sanusi is also back in the mix. The usual suspects—Alex Iwobi, Joe Aribo, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Terem Moffi and Paul Onuachu—have all been called up. Goalkeeper Daniel Bameyi joins the camp with Chijioke Aniagboso, while in‑form Rivers United keeper Victor Sochima will contest the number‑one shirt with Francis Uzoho.
The players are expected to arrive at the team camp in Abuja on Sunday, 19 March. Table‑toppers Nigeria sit on six points after victories over Sierra Leone and São Tomé and Príncipe, while the Djurtus are second with four points from a win over São Tomé and Príncipe and a draw with the Leone Stars.
