A French court on Thursday sentenced two men to prison for the burglary at the home of Paris Saint‑Germain star Presnel Kimpembe last year. Both defendants, aged 21, admitted guilt but claimed they did not know they were entering the residence of the France defender and 2018 World Cup winner when they broke in during November 2022.
According to the court, the intruders managed to enter only one room before attempting to flee after spotting a caretaker. They fell from a veranda—the point of entry—without succeeding in stealing jewellery or clothing. The men said their motive was “money troubles” and that a third person had identified the target location.
Kimpembe’s lawyer, Yasmina Belmokhtar, described the incident as “a violation of privacy” and sought a symbolic €1 (about $1) in damages. The court ruled that the sentences—ten months for one defendant and eight months for the other—could be reduced, allowing the men to serve their time at home while wearing electronic monitoring tags.
