PDP candidate, Kalat emerges winner of Jema’a House of Assembly seat in Kaduna

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Assembly candidate for Jema’a local government area of Kaduna State, Ali Kalat, has emerged winner of the March 18 election.

Prof. Ishaya Dauda, the Returning Officer, who announced the result in Kafanchan on Sunday, said the PDP candidate polled 26, 640 votes, to defeat his closest rival, Mr Sambo Maigari of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 22, 371 votes.

The Returning Officer explained that the Labour Party candidate, Maidawa Friday came third with 6, 201 votes while Bulus Kajang of the New Nigeria People’s Party scored 988 of the total votes cast.

According to him, “A total of 56, 472 voters were accredited out of the 173, 846 registered voters in the constituency.”

The returning officer said only 56,074 electorates cast their votes.
