Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has been congratulated by the Accord Party’s governorship candidate, Adebayo Adelabu, for his re‑election. Adelabu posted the message on his verified Twitter account, emphasizing that the victory should inspire greater diligence in serving the people.
He wrote, “The election has come and gone, and we should all return to our normal daily lives, as I always say. I firmly believe that elections should not be a do‑or‑die affair; God changes times and seasons, enthroning and dethroning leaders according to His will. God’s timing is best.” Adelabu added that elections are about providing the state with the best governance and achieving socio‑economic development to improve the welfare and prosperity of Oyo’s citizens.
While the Accord Party will continue its constructive, objective, and helpful criticism of government policies and programs, Adelabu stressed that the priority now is to join hands with the governor in their respective capacities to achieve people‑oriented development for the state, ensuring that future generations look back with pride. He acknowledged that Oyo State is not yet where it should be, but described the governor’s new term as a golden opportunity to avoid disappointing the populace by delivering balanced development across the state.
Adelabu highlighted several urgent areas for the governor’s focus: improving the poor security situation, addressing environmental concerns, making schools more conducive to learning, and encouraging and training teachers so that Oyo can regain its status as a pacesetter state. He also called for the rapid industrialisation of the state and the creation of jobs for the many unemployed youths.
“Once again, accept my hearty congratulations,” Adelabu concluded.
