A former member of the House of Representatives, Rita Orji, described Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as a symbol of good governance for his contemporaries in Nigeria. In a statement made in Ibadan on Tuesday, she congratulated Makinde on his victory in the recent governorship election, in which he, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, polled 563,756 votes. His closest rival, Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress, received 256,685 votes, while Adebayo Adelabu of Accord garnered 38,357 votes.

Orji praised Makinde as a leader with a burning desire to set the state on a positive trajectory. She emphasized that the people of Oyo believe in the efficacy of his campaign promises and that his issue‑based campaign, under the Omituntun 1.0 agenda, revealed the “charming heart of a leader” committed to practical leadership. According to Orji, the governor’s leadership acumen remains a benchmark for good governance across the country.

She also commended the people of Oyo, especially the Igbo community, for rallying around the governor and voting for him in all 33 local government areas. Orji assured that the developmental strides recorded under Omituntun 1.0 are merely the tip of the iceberg, and that Omituntun 2.0 will bring unprecedented development to the state.
