The Bauchi State Police Command announced that its operatives have arrested 11 individuals for wielding dangerous weapons following the announcement of the gubernatorial election results in the state. According to a statement released to journalists by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, the suspects were apprehended at various locations within the Bauchi metropolis. The group includes six teenagers and five adults.

Wakil explained that the arrests were carried out in enforcement of the command’s earlier warning to political party supporters—whether they backed the winners or the losers—not to engage in wild celebrations or hold rallies that could threaten law and order. He said the tactical teams attached to the command adopted an aggressive stance against miscreants across the state to prevent a breakdown of order after the recent gubernatorial and state assembly elections.

The police’s crime‑prevention operations resulted in the arrest of eleven suspects on charges of criminal conspiracy, thuggery, and possession of dangerous weapons. During the raids, operatives recovered thirty assorted dangerous weapons. The arrested individuals are: Uzaifa Abubakar (aka Damo, 18), Abdulmalik Hussaini (aka Biri, 18), Abdulmalik Suleiman (aka Bluetooth, 21), Usman Isyaku (aka Kanzo, 20), Naziru Mohammed (aka Binju, 18)—all males from the Bayan Nitel area; Mubarak Yahaya (18) of Doya; Alyusha’u Sanusi (25) of Bayan Zannuwa; Ahmad Usman (28) of Illela; Mubaraq Nasiru (16) of Railway; Idriss Dauda (22) of Tsohon Kamfani; and Khalifa Adamu (20) of Danjuma Goje.

The police spokesman added that the suspects were arrested while wielding dangerous weapons and disturbing public peace and order along Kobi Street, the Fada roundabout, and the Danjuma Goje area of Bauchi metropolitan.
