The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will resume the collation of the Abia State governorship election today, Wednesday, at 4 p.m., according to Vanguard. Mrs. Rebecca Jim, INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity, confirmed the plan, noting that both the presiding officer and the state administrative secretary—who had been summoned to INEC headquarters in Abuja over the Obingwa results controversy—are on their way back to Abia to complete the process.

On Monday, INEC announced that it had suspended further collation of governorship results in parts of Abia and Enugu states. The suspension followed an invasion of the INEC office in Obingwa Local Government Area, Abia, by thugs on Sunday, 19 March 2023. The attackers held INEC officials hostage and raised allegations of irregularities, including over‑voting in certain areas, prompting the electoral body to halt the collation.
