President‑elect Bola Tinubu travelled abroad on Tuesday night, heading first to Paris and London. In a statement issued by Tunde Rahman on behalf of the Office of the President‑elect, the trip was described as an opportunity for Tinubu to rest after a hectic campaign and election season and to begin planning his transition programme ahead of his inauguration on May 29.
The statement added that, after his stay in Europe, the President‑elect will proceed to Saudi Arabia to perform the Lesser Hajj (Umrah) and observe the Ramadan fast, which begins on Thursday. He departed from Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Ikeja on Tuesday night and is expected to return to the country soon.
The office urged the media to refrain from publishing rumours or unsubstantiated claims and to seek clarification directly from the President‑elect’s office.
